Couple enjoying financial clarity

From the team

What we hear from couples (informally)

Common themes—not quotes from named customers.

Clarity without merging everything

We hear couples say they want one shared view of where they stand without moving every dollar into a joint account. PersonalFi is built around that.

The daily number

Spreading rent and bills across the month turns abstract monthly math into a concrete question: what does today look like? That is the idea behind Today's Net.

Early product

We are early. If you try PersonalFi and something confuses you, tell us—we are small enough to read the feedback.

Financial unity, simplified.

Most finance apps are backward-looking guilt trips. We built a forward-looking tool for couples who want to win together.

What we don't do

Most finance apps promise the world. Here's what we refuse to do.

We don't predict your future

No 'AI predicts your next purchase.' No machine-learning theater. We do arithmetic—your bills, divided by days, compared to today. That's it. It's enough.

We don't sell your data

We use Plaid for read-only bank connections. We never store your bank credentials. We don't sell, share, or monetize your financial data. Ever.

We don't force you to merge accounts

Your money stays yours. Your partner's money stays theirs. PersonalFi shows a shared picture of the two—without demanding a joint account you don't want.

We don't have 10,000 features

We have one number: Today's Net. We will add what helps you see the same picture as your partner, and nothing else. No social feed. No credit score nagging. No affiliate credit card pushes.

Why we built PersonalFi

I kept fighting with my partner about money. Not because either of us was irresponsible—we just never looked at the same numbers at the same time. Every budgeting app I tried either assumed we wanted to merge our accounts or flooded us with charts neither of us understood. I wanted one number, every day, that said 'you're fine' or 'you're not.' So we built it. PersonalFi is early, and we're small—email zac@personalfi.ai if anything is broken or confusing. I read everything.

The Experience Gap

Most finance apps show your rent as "$1,500 due on the 1st." But you're using that apartment every single day—you're just paying for it once.

PersonalFi changes this. We take your monthly bills and divide them by the number of days in the month. So your $1,500 rent becomes $50 per day, every day.

Now you can see how much room you have each day after those costs—not just a monthly lump sum. If you share finances with a partner, you both see the same daily picture—so fewer surprises and less blame.

No more confusion. No more money arguments. Just clear spending, every single day.

Our Way: Five Terms That Change Everything

Most finance apps talk in accountant-speak. We speak plain English. Here's how we think about your money—so clear, you'll wonder why no one explained it like this before.

Fixed Expenses

Bills that stay the same: rent ($1,500), car payment ($400), gym membership ($50). Most apps miss this: Your rent isn't a one-time expense—you're using that apartment every day. PersonalFi divides it by days, so you see $50 per day for rent, $13 per day for your car.

Variable Expenses

Expenses that change: groceries ($200 one week, $150 the next), gas, coffee, dinners out. PersonalFi tracks these as they happen, so you see how daily choices add up. That $5 coffee shows up on that day. Your $80 grocery run appears on the calendar when it happens.

Fixed Income

Money you can count on: your paycheck ($5,000 on the 1st and 15th), monthly side hustle, regular freelance work. Like fixed expenses, PersonalFi spreads this across the month. Your $5,000 paycheck becomes $167 per day—because you're earning it to cover daily life, not just to sit there on payday.

Variable Income

Extra money that comes in unpredictably: surprise freelance projects, selling items online, tips, side gigs. PersonalFi shows this on the exact day it arrives, so you know exactly when you have more to work with. No guessing.

Daily Net Earnings (Your "Today's Net")

This is the magic number. How much money you have available to spend today.

Every day, PersonalFi takes your fixed income (spread across the month) plus any variable income that came in, then subtracts your fixed expenses (spread across the month) and variable expenses from that day. What's left? Your Daily Net Earnings.

Positive number? You're ahead today. Negative number? You spent more than you earned. This clarity changes everything—you see exactly where you stand, every single day.

Bank-Level Security

Your data is safe. Period.

We use the same encryption standards as major banks. Your credentials are never stored on our servers.

Security-first design

We minimize what we store, encrypt data in transit and at rest, and rely on established providers (including Plaid) for bank connections—not marketing checkboxes.

256-bit Encryption

All data is encrypted in transit and at rest using AES-256 encryption. Your financial life stays private.

Plaid Integration

We partner with Plaid to securely connect to 12,000+ financial institutions. We never see your login details.
